STEP 3: Fixing the Console and Reverse Camera (black Console Screen / off-center)
When you open the Console screen or put the truck in reverse, does it show a black screen? If so, read below.
If the reverse camera or console screen is off-centered, proceed to STEP 3.1
BLACK CONSOLE / REVERSE CAMERA ⬇️
- We highly recommend that you check if you connected the black extension cable, which is the LVDS cable. This cable is only needed for those that have the rear infotainment screen!
- Make sure you did NOT disconnect the factory CD PLAYER
This is the LVDS cable:
STEP 3.1: OFF-CENTER Camera / Console Screen
This will address these issues:
- Console screen is off-center
- The reverse camera is off-center
- Open the Settings app on your device.
- Navigate to "System" (top right corner).
- Find and select "Factory settings" (near the bottom of the list).
- Enter the code "7890" and press OK.
- Scroll down the page until you see an option called "GM screen parameters."
- Change this setting from "2" to "Auto." If Auto or 2 does not work, please change to another number
- Finally, at the bottom of the page, click "Save and reboot."
Remember to scroll carefully on the right side of the screen to avoid accidentally changing other settings that could affect your device.
STEP 4: Clear All OnStar Bluetooth Connections
Before pairing anything new, you must unpair / forget any previous Bluetooth connections within the console and also on your phone to avoid conflicts.

-
Tap the Four Squares icon on the bottom right (the app drawer).
-
Tap Console

-
Step 4.2: Connect Your Phone
Now that the screen is talking to the truck, you now need to connect your phone to the screen.
-
Open the Bluetooth app on the Workshop 12 Screen:
- Tap the Four Squares icon on the bottom right (the app drawer).
- Find and Open the Bluetooth App
- Click on the Paperclip on the top right corner

-
- Open the Bluetooth settings on your cell phone.
- Search for and connect to the device named WS12-BT.
Please note: The new screen will NOT provide you with a paring code. Simply press OK or YES when your phone asks if the pin matches.
Crucial Connection Rule
To ensure everything works correctly, verify the connections match the guide below:
-
Your Cell Phone: Should ONLY be connected to WS12-BT (the new screen).
-
The New Screen (GT6-BTD): Should ONLY be connected to the Original Truck Bluetooth (GMC/Chevy).
Note: Do not connect your cell phone directly to the truck's original "GMC/Chevy" Bluetooth, or the audio routing will fail.
STEP 4.3 CONNECTING AUDIO THROUGH AUX INSTEAD OF BLUETOOTH
Watch the video below for a full installation guide.
- You must connect Gray T-harness, which was shown by Alex during the wire walkthrough.
- Make sure you connect the dummy AUX cable in the factory AUX port (under the center armrest); this will allow you to use the AUX feature.
Please Note: That you will not be able to retain the OEM mic when audio is going through AUX. Also the Skip functions on the steering wheel will not work without the steering wheel harness connected.
